Weigh in Wednesday

Every Wednesday I'm going to report my weight loss in hopes that my readers and friends will keep me in check. Reporting weekly will make me accountable for my choices through out the week. I've made a change for better eating. I'm not going to call it dieting b/c basically I need to make lifestyle changes from here on out. I started 2 weeks ago,

so far I've lost

5.2 lbs.

Seems like weight is so easy and enjoyable to gain, but a PAIN to lose. :) I've been eating lots of soup, it's almost an addiction now I like the taste so much, which is a good thing b/c it's very very low fat. I'm making better choices and eating smaller portions. So far so good.

Weekends seem to be the hardest, that's when I'm off schedule and free to do what I choose, and it's those times I seem to make poor choices. I'm hoping that I will eventually have enough readers to make it, for lack of a better word, " embarrased" to gain or stay the same. Never the less, I will post the good and the bad.

Intro to Coupons!

I thought I'd post to give an insight to setting up coupons and coupon inserts for future use. I currently have an accordion file, that's heavy duty plastic, to store each weeks coupon inserts from the Sunday/Wednesday paper. Each week I remove the inserts from the paper and mark the date on the front of the insert before filing them by month. The date can be found on the spine of the insert in small print. There are different sources of inserts. Mainly SmartSource, RedPlum, and P & G. Each week I will list deals that match up with the inserts from previous week. For some, this may be easier than clipping coupons.

The Sunday Paper: The Sunday paper is the best source for coupons. There are normally 2 inserts every week, except Holidays, one from Smart Source (SS) and one from Red Plum (RP). Sometimes there will be a 3rd from companies like Proctor and Gamble (PG) Don't just call your local paper company and order, shop around. The Walgreens in Ooltewah sales papers for 1/2 prices with any purchase.

Free Newspapers: This will vary depending on your area. If you live in Ooltewah, our town paper is delivered on Wednesday morning. There are normally at least 1 insert in that paper. Most of the time it's the exact coupon insert from the Sunday paper, which is great to keep for stock piling.

It is important to have at least 2 sets of coupon inserts for B1G1 free sales.

Magazines: I recently purchased All You magazine for 2 years. This is a great magazine with awesome coupons in it. I received my 1st issue a little over a week ago, I've already used $1.75 worth of coupons out of it. It pays for itself..heck..it'll make you money! :)

Printable Coupons: The Internet is a great source for coupons. There are 3 major coupon sites to look at. Coupons.com, SmartSource.com, and RedPlum.com. Some Manufacturers also release individual coupons. I will share these with you as I find them.



Please realize that not inserts are exactly the same. For instance, you may have $1 off Pam Cooking Spray in your SS 1/24 insert (Smart Source from 1/24), and my insert may only have .35 cents off. This doesn't happen often, but it does happen, so I'm letting you know ahead of time.

Here is an example on how the list will be:

Publix
Pam cooking spray B1G1 ($1.27)
$1/2 RP 12/27
Pay : $.77

The store is Publix, cooking spray is on sale for Buy 1 Get 1 free making them $1.27 each. Use the $1 off 2 from the 12/27 insert of Red Plum and you pay only .77 cents.
